Gladesville Hospital derives its name from John Glade, a settler who purchased the land in 1817. In 1838 it was the Tarban Creek Lunatic Asylum and was known as Gladesville Hospital for the Insane from 1869. The last in-patient services were closed in 1997.
Today, it accommodates a range of community services: Northern Sydney Home Nursing, Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre, St John’s Ambulance, Medical Council of NSW, Schizophrenia Fellowship, Health Education and Training Institute, Medical Council, Cornucopia Café, and Giant Steps school.
Buildings 7, 8, 33 and 38: UBW worked on the carpentry and roof maintenance on this site, this included: removal and replacement of roofing shingles, repairs to windows (removal of broken parts, window moulding, beads and quad mould, painting, and installation of fly screens) and termite remediation.
