Heritage Restoration & Termite Remediation Works – King Street Courts

Sectors: Heritage

King Street Court Complex, a Gregorian style courthouse situated in the heart of Sydney’s legal precinct, has been in continual use as courthouse for almost 200 years. In July 1813, Governor Macquarie wanted to build a courthouse by a public subscription with the target appeal of £5,000.  Unfortunately, few shared the same official enthusiasm, and the appeal was abandoned unless it was to be built by convicts.

The building was originally designed by colonial architect and convict Francis Greenway, the court complex had seen many alterations and additions over its life. From a Georgian Public School (Macquarie’s first public school) to being modified to accommodate the Supreme Court instead.

Our heritage restoration works at King Street Courts included: manufacturing and replacement of all termites damaged decorative timber mouldings, beadings, sills, jambs, skirting, architraves, and timber ceiling linings to multiple areas.
