A safer design after a truck strike.
Fire and Rescue NSW is the State Government agency responsible for fire, rescue and hazmat services in cities and towns across NSW. While responding to state emergencies, the Area Commander and Station Officer at NSW Fire and Rescue Matraville approached UBW for suggestions on a fit for purpose design, with safety the priority. The station had building and structural damage after a truck collided with a brick wall.
Designed with structural engineers, safety first.
UBW worked closely with structural engineers on emergency repairs and improvements to the damaged building. Works included a hazardous material inspection, demolition, patch concrete, painting and cleaning, delivered over a 4 week programme. The design proposed by UBW achieved a safer outcome for the station.
