New work has to sit with the original. At King Street Courts, UBW manufactured and fitted timber mouldings, sills and linings to match the original detail, finished by French polishing.
Termite and water damage often appear once fabric is opened up. UBW has remediated both across courts, post offices and four buildings at Gladesville Hospital.
Courts, post offices, hospitals and stations keep operating. Works at the Arts Exchange were staged over 30 weeks, including a managed overnight road closure.
Protection of original materials is planned from day one, as at Town Hall, where works were carried out in a live station without harming the heritage-listed fabric.
UBW delivers restoration and repair works to heritage-listed buildings across Sydney. Recent projects include Stage 01 façade works to the Albert Pavilion at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, termite remediation and timber replacement at King Street Courts, stone repair and seismic stabilisation at the Arts Exchange, and restoration of six glazed tile columns at Bondi Junction Station.
Every project starts with an assessment of the existing fabric and a method that fits it. We coordinate with consultants and asset owners, stage works to keep the building operating, and document each stage through to handover. See our heritage, refurbishment, maintenance and small works services.
