King Street Courts Internal Works
Roof remediation, termite remediation and internal heritage restoration at King Street Courts, a courthouse in use for almost 200 years. 35 week programme.
Restoring a courthouse in use for almost 200 years.
King Street Court Complex is a Georgian style courthouse in the heart of Sydney’s legal precinct, in continual use for almost 200 years. Originally designed by colonial architect Francis Greenway, the complex has seen many alterations over its life, from Macquarie’s first public school to its use by the Supreme Court. UBW was engaged to carry out roof remediation, termite remediation and internal repairs to preserve the heritage fabric of the building.
Our Approach
Termite-damaged timber replaced like for like.
UBW delivered the works over a 35 week programme within an operating heritage courthouse. The scope included roof remediation, termite remediation and internal repairs. Termite-damaged decorative timber was manufactured and replaced, including mouldings, beadings, sills, jambs, skirting, architraves and timber ceiling linings across multiple areas, preserving the character of the original building.
